1. Apply for the Day-Before Lottery

Did you miss out on the advanced seasonal lottery? No problem! Zion National Park offers a day-before lottery system for last-minute permits. You can apply until 3 p.m., and permits are issued at 4 p.m. for use the following day. This is a great opportunity to try to snag a permit for the coveted chained section of the Angels Landing hike. Visit recreation.gov to apply—and keep your fingers crossed!

2. Hike to Scout’s Landing

Good news: you don’t need a permit to hike the first 2.25 miles of the Angels Landing trail up to Scout’s Landing. This section of the trail offers breathtaking views and is a rewarding hike in its own right. Scout’s Landing features stunning panoramas of Zion Canyon and serves as the perfect spot for a photo op (or to fuel up with a snack break!).
