~ Guided Zion Tours ~

Brushy Cove Fall Tour

Your guide takes a customized 4x4 Jeep up boulders and steep, narrow switchbacks, climbing more than 1,500 feet to a viewpoint above East Zion. From the top, West Temple, Checkerboard Mesa and the canyons of Zion spread out below you, framed by fall color and crisp high-country air.

The Ride

The tour starts with a few miles of smooth road. Your guide uses that stretch to share the area's history and the lay of the land as you pass some of the smaller canyons that make up Zion National Park. Then the trail begins. The Jeep crawls over boulders and climbs narrow, steep switchbacks on Brushy Cove and the Elevator Trail. At the top, you'll stop at a viewpoint with views of West Temple, Checkerboard Mesa, the Narrows and other Zion landmarks. Take time for snacks, water and photos. The ride down is just as steep. You'll roll beneath century-old ponderosa pines while your guide explains how they shape this high-country forest. Keep watch for mule deer, wild turkey and elk.

Is This Tour Right for You?

This is the tour for riders who want the most thrilling Jeep experience we offer. Expect steep grades, big bumps and a lot of bouncing. If you’d prefer a shorter ride, the 1-hour East Rim Jeep Tour is a good alternative. This tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries.

Know Before You Go

Please arrive 15 minutes early, since you won’t want to miss the tour. This is our favorite fall tour, and during some months you’ll see some of the best fall colors in the Zion area. The tour may not operate during severe weather.

Pair It With

Want to see East Zion another way? Slow things down on the Checkerboard Horseback Ride, a 1-hour trail ride for ages 8 and up. For more adrenaline, try Hidden Creek Canyon, a 4-hour canyoneering adventure for ages 6 and up. And to end your day under East Zion’s dark skies, Stargazing Night is a 1-hour evening activity the whole family can enjoy, open to ages 2 and up. Because this tour departs from Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, staying there puts you right at the starting line.
